Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect at my initial evaluation?

You can expect to spend about 90 minutes at your initial evaluation. We will be assessing your pelvic floor, posture, breathing, body mechanics, and movement during activities that you are impacted by your symptoms. This may include activities such as exercise, caring for your child, cleaning your house, engaging in your job, participating in intimate activities with your partner, etc.

What is a pelvic floor assessment & do I need it?

A pelvic floor assessment includes both an external and internal examination of the pelvic floor muscles and surrounding tissues. Doing this allows us to best assess how your pelvic floor is functioning and identify any strength, coordination, or mobility deficits.

If you are not comfortable with the internal examination, it is not something that has to be done. We encourage you to do what you are most comfortable with. Even if you have already consented to the internal examination, you are allowed to change your mind during the evaluation. There are other techniques we can trial.

Do I need a prescription from my doctor?

Yes- Pennsylvania is not considered a direct access state for occupational therapy services. A signed referral is required. We can accept signatures from your family physician, OBGYNs, nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives (CNMs), etc. We have a script that we can provide to you to have your provider of choice sign. Please make sure that if you request a script on your own it specifies "pelvic floor OT" as we are an OT practice and cannot accept referrals for PT (physical therapy).

Do you take my insurance?

We are an out-of network-provider. We chose this as a private practice because it means we are not limited by the constraints of health insurance plans. We are able to take the time needed to help you reach your goals without the restrictions often enforced by health insurance. By doing this, we serve YOU- not your insurance company.

We accept cash, check, and payments through Venmo.

*All payments are required at time of service*

What is your cancellation policy?

For appointments cancelled or changed with less than 24 hours notice, there will be a $75 fee. For no-shows or no notice of cancellation, you will be charged the full amount for your missed appointment.

How many treatment sessions will this take?

This is a difficult question to answer without first completing the initial evaluation. A lot of factors are involved including how long you've had the symptoms/condition, how your body responds to therapy, how much time you're able to invest in exercises at home, etc. It is important for us to not only see initial symptom reduction/relief, but ensure you maintain lasting results as you return to the activities you love.

DUE TO MEDICARE REGULATIONS, WE ARE UNABLE TO SEE ANYONE 65 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.
